In-Mar Systems is proud to have supplied Wynn Marine window wipers for USAV Craney Island, the first production vessel in a new generation of U.S. Army watercraft
Some projects are simply exciting to be a part of.
Vigor Marine Fabrication recently unveiled USAV Craney Island, the U.S. Army’s first production Maneuver Support Vessel (Light), or MSV(L), at its Vancouver, Washington, facility. When the vessel enters service, Wynn Marine window wipers supplied by In-Mar Systems will be aboard.

Craney Island is the second MSV(L) built under the program, following the prototype SSG Elroy F. Wells, launched by Vigor in 2022. Delivery of Craney Island is scheduled for this fall, with three additional MSV(L)s currently under construction.

Craney Island is the second MSV(L) built under the program, following the prototype SSG Elroy F. Wells, launched by Vigor in 2022. Delivery of Craney Island is scheduled for this fall, with three additional MSV(L)s currently under construction. The MSV(L) is designed to replace the Army’s Landing Craft Mechanized-8 fleet, bringing greater speed and payload capacity while maintaining the ability to operate in shallow water.
Designed to transport troops, combat equipment, and supplies, the vessel features stern access and a bow ramp that allow vehicles and equipment to move directly through it. U.S. Army program information lists a payload capacity of up to 82 tons and speeds of 21 knots fully loaded and 30 knots unloaded.
The production version also incorporates improvements developed through testing of the prototype in the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii, including updates to electrical and HVAC systems and modifications intended to improve reliability.
Proud to Have a Place Aboard
More than 300 workers at Vigor Marine Fabrication contributed to Craney Island, supported by dozens of suppliers and partners across the United States.
In-Mar’s part in that much larger effort was a familiar one: supplying Wynn Marine window wipers for the vessel.
For more than 45 years, In-Mar Systems has supplied marine equipment for vessels operating in demanding environments. Wynn wiper systems have long been part of that work, helping provide reliable visibility aboard commercial, government, and military vessels.
Craney Island is an impressive addition to that list.
With Vigor now in full-rate production of MSV(L) hulls and additional vessels already under construction, the program represents an important new chapter for the U.S. Army’s watercraft fleet.
Congratulations to Vigor Marine Fabrication, the U.S. Army, and everyone involved in bringing USAV Craney Island closer to service. We’re proud to have a small part aboard.
