The Holly Beach, the first of two new ferries for the Cameron crossing, was recently dedicated by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.

Built by Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors in Houma, the Holly Beach and sister vessel Cameron are 190-foot hybrid-electric ferries designed to carry up to 34 vehicles. They will replace the Cameron II, which has served the crossing since 1964.

Keeping an Important Louisiana Crossing Moving

The Cameron ferry provides an important connection across the Calcasieu Ship Channel for residents and commercial traffic in southwest Louisiana.

The new vessels are designed to provide more reliable service, including accommodating large commercial vehicles when one ferry is unavailable. They will also play a role in hurricane and emergency evacuations.

In-Mar Solutions is proud to have supplied the wiper systems for both the Holly Beach and the Cameron.

It’s great to see the Holly Beach getting ready for service, with the Cameron soon to follow.

Congratulations to Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors, Louisiana DOTD, and everyone involved in bringing these new vessels into service.
